Orders that include different types of products (for example, a can seamer plus cans and accessories) may ship from different locations or on different timelines, so it is normal for them to arrive in more than one box or delivery. Check out our shipping & return policy here: https://oktoberdesign.com/pages/shippingandreturnpolicy.
Contact support as soon as possible with the correct address. Additional charges may apply.
Once a return is received and inspected, approved refunds are typically issued back to the original payment method within a standard processing time window. Your bank or card provider may take additional days to post the credit to your account. Check out our shipping & return policy here: https://oktoberdesign.com/pages/shippingandreturnpolicy.
When cans arrive with partial damage, report how many are unusable and provide photos so support can review; in many cases, a proportional store credit or replacement for the damaged portion can be issued instead of returning the entire shipment. Check out our shipping & return policy here: https://oktoberdesign.com/pages/shippingandreturnpolicy.
Unused can seamers, tools, and accessories in original condition may typically be returned within a limited window from purchase, subject to inspection and any applicable restocking fees. Shipping charges are usually non‑refundable and return shipping is often the customer’s responsibility. Check out our shipping & return policy here: https://oktoberdesign.com/pages/shippingandreturnpolicy. To start a return, email us at info@oktoberdesign.com.
The same can seamer can run different can sizes by changing adapters, tooling, and chucks, but each size still requires the proper setup to form a proper seam. The ordering guide explains which sizes are supported by each model and what additional tooling is required. You can check out additional adapters and tooling sets here: https://oktoberdesign.com/pages/accessories. Check out our can seamer order guide here: https://oktoberdesign.com/pages/ordering-guide.
Some replacement parts are still available for MK machines, and customers who want updated features can also use the trade‑up program to move into a current model while receiving credit for their MK. To order MK parts, contact us directly at info@oktoberdesign.com and include photos.
Can seamer models include a limited parts warranty period from the date of purchase that covers defects in materials or workmanship under normal use, and assistance plus replacement parts are available through the support team during that window. Check out our Warranty Policy here: https://oktoberdesign.com/pages/warranty.
The best model depends on your production volume, space, and workflow. Check out our can seamer order guide here: https://oktoberdesign.com/pages/ordering-guide.
Adapters were updated in recent years, and you can tell which style you have by looking at the top edge: older versions have a chamfered top, while newer versions have a more squared edge profile, which helps with selecting compatible parts and guides. You can see the difference here: https://oktoberdesign.com/products/adapter-retrofit-kit.
Model 7 got an upgrade in early 2024, so if your machine predates that, it is a Model 7. If you purchased it new after Feb. 2024, it is most likely a Model 7+. Check out the Model 7 Can Seamer Tooling Upgrade Kit to convert your Model 7 to the new tooling style used on Model 7+ and Model 8 Can Seamers for fast tooling changes. Check out the upgrade kit photos to see the difference here: https://oktoberdesign.com/products/model-7-tooling-upgrade-kit.
Routine care typically includes regular cleaning, lubrication of key moving parts, and periodic seam checks and calibration. Following the maintenance schedule in the manuals and videos helps keep seams consistent and extends the life of the machine. Check out operation manuals and how-to videos here: https://oktoberdesign.com/pages/support.
New or unusual noise may be a sign of contamination, lack of lubrication, or a part starting to wear, so cleaning exposed moving parts, following the lubrication schedule, and visually inspecting bearings, shafts, and rollers is a smart early step. Check out operation manuals and how-to videos here: https://oktoberdesign.com/pages/support.
Machines are offered in standard finishes as well as a range of custom colors and vinyl wraps, including the ability to match your brand colors or apply custom graphics and logos on the seamer body. Check out the options here: https://oktoberdesign.com/pages/custom-colors.
A Clear Can Adapter Kit is required for Model 7+ and Model 8 machines. MK, SL1, and BenchMK Can Seamers cannot be retrofitted to seam clear cans. Shop here: https://oktoberdesign.com/products/12oz-sleek-clear-pet-can-adapter.
Currently there is no refurbished program.
The Model 8 motor uses about the same amount of power as a strong blender or desktop computer setup, typically around 500–650 watts while running, which is less than most espresso machines or microwaves. It runs on a standard wall outlet, with only a brief higher power draw when the motor first starts up.
Most manual seamers depend on operator speed. About 9 cans per minute is average on the Model 8 Automatic.

Contact us before ordering. Send us the can size, manufacturer, end type/profile, and any available specifications or photos.
We'll help determine the correct configuration, adapter, and tooling for your cans.

No. The Model 8 was designed around simple, repeatable operation. Once the machine is correctly configured for your cans, normal operation consists of placing the filled can and end into the machine, raising the splash guard, and pressing the Cycle Start button. The machine automatically performs the seaming cycle.

No. The Model 8, Model 7, and BenchMK models are can seamers, not a filler. Your beverage is filled into the can separately. You then place the appropriate can end on top and use the Model 8 to create the sealed double seam. If you're looking for an integrated filling and seaming solution, see our automated canning line options.

We offer two power configurations:

110V / 60Hz: Recommended for North America and other regions using approximately 110–120V / 60Hz power.
220V / 50Hz: Recommended for Europe, Australia, and other regions using approximately 210–240V / 50Hz power.

Both versions provide the same seaming performance. For international orders, we can supply the appropriate outlet connector for your region.

Your machine is calibrated at the factory before shipment. However, cans can vary slightly between manufacturers, so seam inspection and occasional adjustment may still be necessary when changing can suppliers or configurations.

If the cans have the same diameter and end type, changing sizes is generally as simple as swapping the lower can adapter. For example, changing between compatible 12 oz and 16 oz cans using the same 202 end does not require an entirely different machine.

Changing to a different end diameter or tooling family requires changing the tooling set, including components such as the upper chuck, first and second operation rollers, and base assembly.

The Model 8 uses a two-operation double-seaming process. The can is held between the lower base adapter and upper chuck while the first and second operation rollers form and finish the seam between the can body and end.

Operation is simple:

  1. Place the correct adapter in the machine.
  2. Place your filled can and loose end onto the adapter.
  3. Raise the splash guard to secure the can.
  4. Press the green Cycle Start button.
  5. Once the can stops rotating, lower the splash guard and remove the sealed can.

The splash guard also incorporates a safety switch that stops the machine if the guard is opened during a cycle.

Depending on your seamer model and configuration, it may be possible, but PET requires the appropriate PET tooling, adapter, and seam calibration.

Changing from aluminum to PET should be treated as a packaging-format change rather than simply a can-height adjustment. The seam should be inspected and verified whenever the machine is changed over.

If you expect to switch frequently between PET and aluminum, contact us so we can recommend the most practical setup.

The best first step is to pause production and consult the operation manual or how‑to videos for your specific model, verifying that everything is set up properly. Check out operation manuals and how-to videos here: https://oktoberdesign.com/pages/support. Next, perform a seam inspection: https://youtu.be/_IG9gYybp5U?si=31ScvKv3GQUl8x4G. Common causes include a broken or missing wave spring, incorrect seaming sequence (Model 7), or insufficient base pressure. Check out the troubleshooting video here: https://youtu.be/LZ241vUOSYY?si=dMB65DHnJop4Pc1b.
If cans are jamming or skipping, check out operation manuals and how-to videos here: https://oktoberdesign.com/pages/support and watch this video: youtube.com/watch?v=frSqAjDZ6Jo&feature=youtu.be.

This “wooling” issue can occur if the first operation roller is set too high or if rollers are not spinning freely. Also check roller vertical alignment.
Non-carbonated beverages may feel soft without internal pressure. Filling cold and full helps. Nitrogen dosing is another option. Still beverages without pressure don't firm up the can as much, but we have a kit to combat this: https://oktoberdesign.com/products/liquid-hydrogen-concentrate-developers-kit.

We threaded the lever hole all of the way through. On the Model 7, you will need to remove the sheet metal stop bracket to expose the other side. You can then use the slow, steady pressure of a 1/8th in. drill bit to spin them the rest of the way through and out the other side (you won’t actually drill into the steel). You can order a replacement here: https://oktoberdesign.com/products/replacement-handle.
PET cans are designed for cold‑fill applications and not intended for high‑temperature tunnel pasteurization, so extreme heat exposure should be avoided.
Many industry‑standard cans from other suppliers can be seamed as long as their dimensions and end profiles match the tooling on your machine, but seam performance with unknown cans cannot be guaranteed, so testing a small batch first is strongly recommended.
Sample cans are often available so you can confirm size, appearance, and compatibility with your product and seamer before purchasing in bulk. Typically, samples themselves are free and you only pay shipping. Email your request and shipping address to info@oktoberdesign.com to get started.
Match the tooling on your seamer with the correct end type. Upper chucks will have etched markings to help identify them, or send us a photo at info@oktoberdesign.com. Learn more about end types here: https://oktoberdesign.com/pages/ordering-guide.
Different end types such as B64 or CDL refer to the lid design and profile that mates with the can body; each type requires matching seamer tooling and chucks, and using the correct combination helps ensure seam integrity and compatibility with industry standards.
We offer a range of can formats, including standard aluminum brite cans, custom labeled cans, PET cans, and steel cans for products like coffee. Each type has its own recommended fill applications, size options, and matching ends.
Cans should be kept clean and dry in storage, then sanitized just before use with an appropriate food‑safe sanitizer and technique, following the guidance in your operations resources and any product‑specific recommendations for your beverage type.
Our can seamers and cans are appropriate for both still and carbonated beverages.
Shelf life depends heavily on your recipe, sanitation, oxygen management, carbonation, and storage conditions, but good practices such as CO₂ purging, minimizing headspace, cold seaming, and careful packaging can substantially improve stability. TEST YOUR PRODUCT!
Aluminum beverage cans use BPA-non-intent (BPA-NI) liners to protect beverages and prevent corrosion. The tint indicates the liner is present.
Aluminum cans actually hold carbonation more consistently than, glass. Because cans are fully sealed with a double seam and don’t rely on a separate closure (like a crown or screw cap), there’s less variability. You can comfortably package anything from still up through highly carbonated products (beer, RTDs, sparkling wine, etc.) as long as your seam and fill process are dialed in.
Aluminum cans can be bath pasteurized but are not rated for full retort. Clear PET cans should not be used with heat processes. Aluminum cans are well-suited for tunnel pasteurization and are commonly run through those systems in the beverage industry. As long as your temps and dwell times are within standard ranges, you won't have any issues.

Even cans marketed as the same nominal size can have slight dimensional differences between manufacturers. If you change can or end suppliers, confirm that the new cans use the correct end diameter and profile for your tooling and perform a seam inspection before beginning full production. The machine is calibrated before shipment, but differences in can height or specifications may require minor adjustment.

For best results, store PET cans indoors in a clean, dry, temperature-controlled environment, ideally around 60–70°F (15–27°C).

  • Keep pallets out of direct sunlight and away from heat sources.
  • Do not store in hot trailers, shipping containers, or other areas subject to extreme temperatures.
  • Keep cans in their original packaging until ready for use to prevent dust, contamination, and damage.
  • Store pallets upright, level, and protected from heavy loads or improper stacking that could deform the cans.
  • Keep away from chemicals, solvents, fuels, and strong odors.
  • If cans have been exposed to very hot or cold conditions during transit or storage, allow them to acclimate to room temperature before filling and seaming.
  • Inspect cans for warping, crushing, or damage to the rim/sealing surface before use. Proper storage helps maintain the can shape and sealing surface required for consistent seaming.

Not necessarily, but you need a safe way to unload the pallet from the freight truck.

If your location has a loading dock or forklift, you typically will not need liftgate service.

If a semi truck arrives and you do not have a loading dock or forklift capable of unloading the pallet, you should request liftgate service when ordering.

A liftgate is a hydraulic platform attached to the back of a freight truck that lowers the pallet from the truck bed to ground level.

If you're receiving your pallet at a home, small business, farm, brewery, coffee shop, or other location without a loading dock or forklift, you will generally need a liftgate.

If you're unsure, ask yourself: If a semi truck arrives with a 300–500 lb pallet, how am I getting it off the truck? If the answer isn't a forklift or loading dock, select liftgate service.

We offer both full and half pallet quantities for many of our brite and custom labeled aluminum cans.

The exact number of cans per pallet varies by can size, so please refer to the individual product page for the quantity included with your selected size.

Purchasing by the pallet generally provides the best per-can value for customers using cans regularly or at higher production volumes.

Brite cans are blank, undecorated cans that are ready for you to fill, label, sleeve, or otherwise decorate. Brite can pallets come on reusable dunnage, which you are charged a deposit for that is refunded upon return.

Custom labeled cans arrive with your custom pressure-sensitive BOPP labels already applied, giving you a production-ready decorated can without having to label each can yourself.

You can purchase pallets with or without ends. When included, ends are packaged separately and secured on top of the pallet for shipment.

Make sure the end profile you order matches the tooling on your can seamer. If you're unsure which end you need, contact us before ordering.

Our standard production lead time for brite can pallets is approximately 5–10 business days.

Transit time is additional and depends on your location and the freight carrier.

Custom labeled can pallets have a standard production lead time of approximately 3 weeks.

Production timing may depend on artwork approval, so responding promptly to your digital proof will help prevent delays.

Transit time is additional.

Both full and half pallets include up to 2 unique artwork designs.

You may include up to 4 total SKUs per pallet. A $30 fee applies for each additional SKU beyond the first two.

If you have a preference for which design is placed on the bottom of the pallet, let us know when placing your order.

Can pallets ship by LTL freight, rather than standard parcel service. Please review our freight policy here.

Empty cans are stacked in layers separated by rigid tier sheets to keep the cans stable and protected. Depending on the pallet configuration, reusable plastic bottom pallets and top frames may also be used.

The completed pallet is banded and securely wrapped with cardboard and/or stretch wrap to help prevent shifting, crushing, and scuffing during normal freight handling.

Actual packaging may vary depending on the can size, quantity, artwork, and whether you're ordering a full or half pallet. Please review all of the information here.

Dunnage is the reusable packaging used to safely stack and transport cans.

Depending on your shipment, reusable dunnage may include:

  • Plastic bottom pallets
  • Plastic tier or separator sheets
  • Plastic top frames

These components are designed to be reused rather than thrown away. Standard wood pallets and corrugated/cardboard packaging are considered one-way packaging and are not part of the refundable dunnage program.

A refundable deposit is charged for reusable plastic dunnage because these components are costly and are intended to remain in circulation. The deposit appears as a separate line item on your invoice. Return the eligible dunnage clean, dry, and undamaged according to our Dunnage Return Guidelines, and the applicable deposit will be refunded after we receive and inspect it.

Empty aluminum cans are extremely lightweight and susceptible to minor dents during handling and transportation.

Because of the nature of the product, up to 2% damage should be anticipated during transit.

Pallets are packaged and secured to minimize damage, but completely eliminating minor transit damage is not possible.

If there is significant visible damage, refuse the shipment back to the carrier.

If you accept the shipment, make sure all visible damage is documented on the carrier's delivery record. Take clear photographs of the pallet, packaging, and damaged cans and contact Oktober immediately.

Damage claims must be reported within 24 hours of delivery, and all damaged products and original packaging must be retained until the claim is resolved.

If the shipment was sent using Oktober's freight account, we will handle the applicable carrier claim and replacement process. Shipments made using a customer or third-party freight account are the customer's responsibility for filing the claim.

Always inspect your pallet at delivery before signing for it.

Look for crushed corners, leaning or shifted cans, broken wrapping, punctures, collapsed layers, or other visible damage.

If there is significant visible damage, refuse the shipment. If you accept a shipment with visible damage, make sure the damage is clearly noted on the carrier's delivery record before signing.

Signing for a shipment without noting visible damage may affect our ability to file a freight claim.

Labels produced on durable films like BOPP are designed to resist moisture and typical condensation in cold‑chain environments, providing good durability for canned beverages stored in coolers and ice baths. Check out our Custom Labeled Can Order Guide here: https://oktoberdesign.com/pages/custom-pre-labeled-cans
Physical press proofs are available so you can see color and material in person before your full run, and they generally ship after artwork approval on a separate timeline from the main production batch. Order a physical proof here: https://oktoberdesign.com/products/custom-label-press-proof.
Limited design assistance is available for customers who need help refining or building artwork, and design services may involve additional fees depending on the scope of the project and revisions required. Check out our Custom Labeled Can Order Guide here: https://oktoberdesign.com/pages/custom-pre-labeled-cans. Email us at labels@oktoberdesign.com to get started.
After submitting artwork, you’ll receive a digital proof showing layout, size, material, and finish details for review. Once you approve the proof within the requested timeframe, the order is queued for production and changes are no longer possible; production and shipping timelines start from the approval date. Check out our Custom Labeled Can Order Guide here: https://oktoberdesign.com/pages/custom-pre-labeled-cans.
Custom labeled can orders typically have minimum order quantities and a production lead time that starts after proof approval, with shipping following once labels and cans are complete. Larger pallet quantities may offer better per‑can pricing and shipping efficiency. Check out our Custom Labeled Can Order Guide here: https://oktoberdesign.com/pages/custom-pre-labeled-cans.
Print‑ready files are usually accepted in professional formats such as PDF or vector artwork (for example, AI) with appropriate resolution, color mode, and fonts prepared according to the label specs. Detailed requirements are listed in the labeled can guide and each product page. Check out our Custom Labeled Can Order Guide here: https://oktoberdesign.com/pages/custom-pre-labeled-cans.

Please note that labels do not provide full can coverage. A small gap will remain where the label edges meet, and there will also be visible space between the label and the top and bottom rims of the can. Complete top-to-bottom and full-wrap coverage can only be achieved through shrink sleeves or direct-to-can printing, which are not services we currently offer. PET cans have a smaller label that only covers a portion of the can, due to the curvature in the can making it impossible to apply a label to more can surface.

Our BOPP labels are moisture-resistant and may be able to withstand pasteurization while already applied to the cans. However, because pasteurization processes vary in temperature, duration, water exposure, cooling, and equipment, we cannot guarantee label or adhesive performance through the pasteurization process.

Exposure to heat, hot water, steam, and condensation may cause temporary or permanent bubbling, wrinkling, edge lifting, or visible air pockets. Some cosmetic changes may improve as the cans cool and the adhesive settles.

We strongly recommend testing a small batch through your exact pasteurization process before using pre-labeled cans for a full production run.

For the best and most consistent cosmetic results, our recommended practice is to pasteurize first and apply labels afterward. This prevents the label and adhesive from being exposed to the heat, water, and condensation associated with pasteurization.

The CL1 can run different can formats when it is equipped with the correct adapters and tooling for each size; changing sizes requires swapping components and rechecking alignment to maintain fill accuracy and seam quality.
The CL1 is a filling and seaming system rather than a carbonation system, so the product should be carbonated to the desired level upstream in a tank or keg before entering the line.
The CL1 is designed to run up to around 20 cans per minute under typical settings, depending on product characteristics and operator workflow. It can handle both still and carbonated beverages, as long as carbonation is managed upstream and product pressure and temperature are set appropriately.
The CL1 is a compact, fully automated canning line designed for small to mid‑scale producers, combining a multi‑head filler with an automatic seaming system on a single mobile frame. It focuses on consistent, repeatable operation with a straightforward control interface rather than complex automation for its own sake.
Visitors are welcome at the Grand Rapids, Michigan location, and customers often reach out ahead of time to coordinate a visit, see equipment, or talk through their canning setup with the team.
