FAQ's & Info

What can sizes work?

The MK16 Can Seamer is capable of seaming several sizes of aluminum beverage cans common in the craft beverage industry.  As standard, it comes with all the tooling required to seam 12oz and 16oz “standard” 202LOE cans.  There is also an optional chuck set for 500ml and 330ml classic cans. Other optional chucks can be found in the accessories page.

The MK32 comes set up for 32oz Crowler cans, and an optional adapter for 750ml cans is also available.

“Sleek” cans require an optional can guide, which is a rest used on the machine to help loading cans.

Many other can sizes are possible as well; please contact us for details.

How do I switch Can sizes?

Switching between different can sizes of the same diameter is fast and simple.  The lower chucks can be changed without tools in a few seconds.  For different can diameters, swapping the can guide takes less than a minute, and requires a 1/2in socket wrench.

Motor options

Oktober can seamers come standard with a North American 110V 60Hzmotor.  An optional motor for 220V 50Hz motor is also available for other regions.

What brand cans work?

Generally, aluminum beverage cans are produced to similar specifications by various manufacturers, and we have had good success seaming cans from various manufacturers without re-adjustment.  If the machine does need slight adjustment, this is fairly simple, and explained in the Operation Manual.

More info on can sizes

Cans are typically defined by their end diameter, body diameter, and height.  A standard 12oz can, for instance, is a 202/211x413, meaning end diameter:202, body diameter: 211, height: 413.  Sleek cans have a body diameter of 204 or 204.5.  A MK16v2 can also be set up with an optional upper chuck and roller setup for diameter 200 end cans (Redbull™ cans, for instance).

Important End (can top) type info!

There are three main types of “ends” (tops) in use in the craft beverage industry (see below); the “B64,  the “CDL”, and SuperEnds.  Oktober seamers come standard for the B64 profile ends.  An optional upper chuck is available if the can ends you plan to use are the CDL profile or SuperEnd profile.  We also offer B64 ends separate from cans as an option if you have access to 202LOE cans, and prefer not purchasing the optional CDL upper chuck.  The SuperEnd profile allows the use of Crown 360ENDS, which feature a full-tear-off aperture.
